ABOUT FREELANCE CONTENT WRITER JASON PEDLEY
I call it the “Coffee Machine Mentality” and it goes a little something like this:
Before I became a freelance content writer, I worked at a number of advertising and public relations agencies and came to notice something very interesting: The agencies that rip their clients off with high prices and crummy service always have the best coffee machines*.
Good coffee does not equal good web copy.
I’m not talking some 12-cup Mr.
Coffee on a timer here, either. I’m talking an Aquabrew Te-116 Pour-over Commercial Coffee Maker…or something similar…in the $300 – $400 price range.
These agencies are the reason I’m a freelancer. While I will admit I do miss the coffee, these agencies can keep the crummy service and useless awards. I’ve vowed to never let my clients suffer the disservice that agencies cast upon their clients in the name of…of…whatever it is they’re trying to do.
My point is, when you’re my client, you get all the benefits of my copywriting skills, my experience and my genuine desire to give you a great return on investment.
In other words: you aren’t helping me pay off my $300 – $400 coffee maker.
And don’t think that agency life was the only life I had before being a freelancer. I’ve been an in-house copywriter/proofreader at one of the largest gaming and entertainment destinations in the world, and I’ve done PR for tech companies in the US and UK. So I’m no stranger to press tours and creative briefs. But it just so happens that I like the world of web content.
My office truly is my world headquarters.
I often joke online about working from the jasonpedley.com World Headquarters. But in all honesty, it IS a world headquarters. I get web copy inquiries from companies and people around the globe. And even though they call from thousands of miles away, I work from a home office, I answer the phone on the second ring when I can, and I work on projects at 2:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the same day if a client’s deadline is tight.
So what else do you want to know about me? I’m sure you can find out more on my FAQ page before you contact me about your next project.
*I will admit, it’s possible to have an expensive coffee machine AND provide good service. But, I rather like my Mr. Coffee.
